As of December, Cash App had 56 million active transacting accounts and $248 billion in inflows during the previous four quarters, the company said. Under the disclosure, public companies will have to release their greenhouse gas emissions, environmental risk impacts, and risk management strategies. Climate disclosure will create a standardized way for companies to report environmental impactPreviously, companies only disclosed their climate impact information on a voluntary basis. Bryan McGannon, managing director of the nonprofit sustainable investment forum US SIF, said the climate disclosure is "a really good first step" toward increasing transparency. The SEC might also be facing litigation from corporate America, which hopes to challenge the new climate disclosure in court, McGannon said. Some companies might be concerned about the potentially high costs of gathering data and complying with the disclosure, SEC officials said.

When we account for how few poor students take the test, by looking at all students, a new and greater disparity emerges. It’s a reflection of an inequality in American education that starts long before high school. New SAT Data Highlights the Deep Inequality at the Heart of American EducationNew data shows, for the first time at this level of detail, how much students’ standardized test scores rise with their parents' incomes — and how disparities start years before students sit for tests. And in the last five decades, as the country has become more unequal by income, the gap in children’s academic achievement, as measured by test scores throughout schooling, has widened. Parenting in places with less income inequality and more public investment in families is more playful and relaxed, research shows.

The request by prosecutors that a judge impose a gag order on former President Donald J. Trump in the federal election-subversion case presents a thorny conflict between the scope of his First Amendment rights and fears that he could — intentionally or not — spur his supporters to violence. There is little precedent for how the judge overseeing the case, Tanya S. Chutkan, should think about how to weigh strong constitutional protections for political speech against ensuring the functioning of the judicial process and the safety of the people participating in it. It is one more example of the challenges of seeking to hold to account a norm-shattering former president who is being prosecuted in two federal cases — and two state cases — as he makes another bid for the White House with a message that his opponents have weaponized the criminal justice system against him. “Everything about these cases is making new law because there are so many gaps in the law,” said Paul F. Rothstein, a law professor at Georgetown University and a criminal procedure specialist. “The system is held together by people doing the right thing according to tradition, and Trump doesn’t — he jumps into every gap.”

Explore How Income Influences Attendance at 139 Top CollegesAt many selective private colleges, being very rich is a door to entry — students with parents earning in the top 1 percent attend at much higher rates than other similarly qualified students, new data shows. The data is available for 139 colleges, including the top private colleges according to Barron’s and many of the top public and private colleges in U.S. News & World Report. The researchers also had access to internal admissions data for several of the most elite private colleges. In much of the next tier of elite private colleges, rich students have a similar advantage. Even though college attendance rises with parental income, when it comes to educating the majority of America’s four-year college students, public universities play a vital role — regardless of how much their parents make.

The injunction was expected after Hinkle on June 6 partially blocked Florida from enforcing its recent ban on people under 18 receiving gender-affirming care such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy. U.S. district court judges elsewhere have blocked state laws banning gender-affirming care in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana and Oklahoma. The plaintiffs were two transgender adults, August Dekker and Brit Rothstein, and two transgender minors who filed under pseudonyms. The defendants were the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and its secretary, Jason Weida, who did not respond to an after-hours request for comment. The AHCA "retained only consultants known in advance for their staunch opposition to gender-affirming care," the judge found.

The original script was brief, just 35 pages, and the set, created mostly from scavenged furniture, was improvised and minimal. Audiences entered up a fire escape, over the roof and through the back of the building into a replica of a drugstore speakeasy. Scheduled to run for just four weeks in 2015, the production re-emerged in two new spaces the next year. Wright and his producers, Immersive Everywhere, had long wanted to bring the show — which uses both group scenes and more intimate ones and select one-on-one encounters to bring “Gatsby” alive — to New York. To bring this “Gatsby” to the city in which it’s set felt, Wright said, “amazing, inspiring, humbling, a bit intimidating.” It was also challenging.

As the chaos of the hospital reigns, the physician tunes it out and focuses on helping the patient. Alas, this paradigm seems more at home in a bygone era than in our current medical system. Such is the crisis facing physicians, according to the psychiatrist Wendy Dean and the hand surgeon Simon Talbot, co-founders of Moral Injury of Healthcare, a nonprofit focusing on distress in the healthcare workforce. They claim physicians suffer from “moral injury” instead. This places the blame on the system, not the physicians.

When measured on the grime factor, “The Rings of Power” has emerged as the dirtier show because of its settings. Elves slog through mud to dig tunnels for their captors. Hobbit-like nomads called Harfoots have soiled skin and shrubbery in their hair. Fighters get caked in ash from an erupting Mount Doom. Ben Rothstein/Amazon

In between, Angela Lansbury’s career spanned seven decades and countless transformations on stage, screen and television. It was missing the night of the fire.” “Jessica Fletcher was probably about as close not to me, but to the sort of woman that I might have been had I not been an actress.” Angela Brigid Lansbury was born in London in 1925. I didn’t know anything. ‘This could be it.’ And I had a special dress made and, oh, I don’t know, It’s just — I think soon after that, I came to New York.” In the mid-’60s, Angela Lansbury returned to the theater. In 2009, she won her fifth Tony Award for playing Madame Arcati in “Blithe Spirit.” Ms. Lansbury was 83 years old.
